Berkley's 1st Daycare Experience

I began selling real estate on August 30th, which means we had to do something with Berkley. So she began full-time daycare. She is attending the same daycare that Zane attended, & she even has the same teacher. We love Mrs. Kelly! Berkley did great on the first day! She didn't even cry! She sat down in her classroom & ate her breakfast. But each day since has been a bit of a different story, she has cried at drop-off time & at pick-up time. She sees Zane & I at pick-up time & she immediately starts crying, "Momma, Bubba" like we have been gone for months. Overall, the director & teacher assure us that she is doing great. And get this -- She is even sleeping on her cute nap mat! This is a biggie as she ONLY sleeps in her own bed, not even with mommy & daddy or in mommy & daddy's bed!
Berkley Marie - Mommy, Daddy, & Bubba are so proud of the big girl you are growing up to be. We are so excited about the things you will learn at your "big girl school". We love you so very much!

Zane's 1st Day of Kindergarten!

On August 23rd, Zane began Kindergarten here at Ponder Elementary! He is growing up so very fast! There are 13 kids in his class, which I think is wonderful! He has a very sweet teacher, Mrs. Brandon, who has been teaching in Ponder for 15 years. Zane was so excited the 1st day!

Seems odd to see little ones carrying what look like large backpacks

Patrick, Berkley, Zane & I walking him to his classroom on the 1st day.

Day 1 went really well, but the days since have not gone as well. Zane has really struggled with adjusting to going to school "every day" rather than 2 days a week like he is used to. He tells us that he likes his teacher, he just doesn't want to stay with her all day because he wants to be with me. We have explained time & time again that he can't stay all day with me for a number of reasons. He had a tough day on day 3, getting into some trouble in the cafeteria, but we are now going on day 9 & he hasn't gotten into trouble since. Everyday he seems to be adjusting better, but it is taking much more time than Patrick & I expected. We really thought he would jump right in & LOVE school, make friends right away, wave bye at drop off time & not be ready for pick-up. That's not the case just yet. He has always been so social & out going. It's funny how we think we know our kids so well, but they can really throw us for a loop.
