AHS Area Champions

My family has always LOVED sports! I remember as a child watching the Olympics with my family. It never mattered what event was taking place, we watched! On Sundays, the Cowboy game was always playing. We even watched boxing matches! Of course, I love sports too! I loved playing, I loved coaching, & I love watching! It has been wonderful watching the Aubrey Football boys advance to the playoffs. (As most of you know, I went to school in Aubrey K-12 & many of my nieces & nephews attend school in Aubrey too!) It is nice to see Kaleb (nephew) & Carlee (niece) experience this level of excitement! It is memories they will always cherish!

AHS football has been keeping my weekends exciting! It has been so much fun traveling to see the games & joining the community excitement! Last night (Saturday) the football team played Paul Pewitt in Royse City for the Area Championship .... and THEY WON 27-7!!!!

Wee Feast

The kids attend Mother's Day Out at the local First Baptist Church. There is always a "Wee Feast" just prior to Thanksgiving. Patrick & I headed to the church for lunch & much to my surprise the kids were doing a program! No video camera & my digital camera was not really ready so this is what you get!

I am running the Turkey Trot in Fort Worth on Thursday morning. I am just hoping to make it the full 5K without walking! I was running quite a bit, but I have been slacking the past 13 days. It will be so much fun either way! We will have Thanksgiving lunch with Patrick's side of the family so I will post pictures after that.

What's happening in our world ....

When I taught Language Arts, I had my students do a journal entry every day for "bellwork". Occasionally I would write the question: What's happening in your world? The students would write a paragraph or two (if I was lucky) telling me about "their world". So here goes: What's happening my my world --

The house is coming along. I am hoping for February or March of 2010. Keep in mind I was actually hoping for Thanksgiving, then Christmas, & now February. It looks like there are a few more weeks left of framing, then the roofing & then onto the other fun stuff. We have an idea on cabinets, cabinet tops, carpet, stained concrete, paint & all that good stuff. We are very excited about being part of the Ponder community.

On Sunday, Nolan (Starla's youngest son) had a birthday. Since Patrick & Zane were hunting, Berkley & I headed to Memaw's after church for lunch & cake. Happy Birthday Nolan! Zane has been struggling at school. We have been having to have the "your friends don't want to play with you if you fight all the time" conversation. EVERY morning, I have to say the following statement, "Zane, no hitting, kicking, pushing or biting, & no fighting!" His teachers are really working hard to help him with having good days. I got to school to pick him up today & he had made me a heart (It makes my heart happy when he is good!)! It was so sweet! And I am very proud of him. Thanksgiving is coming up so his class made these headbands today with names describing each child. Notice Zane's says "Bobcat Boy". His teacher told me he got his name because he is WILD! Most importantly, he had a good day at school so he & I both are happy!

With the boys hunting, Berkley & I shop! She had her adenoids removed on Friday so we stayed in that evening & headed to the mall on Saturday after her nap. I LOVE shopping for this little girl. Dillard's is my favorite lately. I found her a couple of little cotton pants & matching shirts for school. Check out the polka dots & pony!
I really think I am going to go back to teaching next year. Zane will begin school in Ponder, so I am hoping to get on there. It is a long shot since teachers in small towns get there & stay. I have heard great things about Ponder so I would love to be employed with the school district. It would sure help our current insurance cost! If I don't teach, I will have the real estate to fall back on. I think I will enjoy that as well, but I have really missed teaching lately. I will pray about it & see!

Berkley & I spent the day in Aubrey yesterday since the boys were hunting. My sister, Renae, brought some fun items over to mom's for us to abuse! This wig was halarious! As soon as she put it on Renae said, "Whoopi's kid!"

Last week it was beautiful, every day had weather in the 70's with the sun shining! After all the rain we had been having, I decided we should eat it up so we went to the local park. The kids LOVE the slide!

Halloween 2009

We did something new this year for Halloween. Our neighbor had a group over for hotdogs & treats prior to trick-or-treating. There was a large group of us, & we loaded up on a "hayride" for a night of trick-or-treating! We had a blast!

AHS Senior Night 2009

My nephew, Kaleb, is a Senior at Aubrey High School. This past Friday night was Senior recognition night. It is so hard to believe that Kaleb (and Lance) are both graduating High School this year!

We HEART the cheerleader too! (Carlee) AHS has had a wonderful football season under head coach G.A. Moore. They are currently undefeated, playing their last district game this coming Friday.
